To ensure that the material delivered
in the Diploma in Innovation Management is up to date and relevant,
many of the topic areas are taught by appropriate professional representatives
from industry and government. There are numerous organisations that regularly contribute
their time and expertise to the teaching of the Diploma, many of which are listed under our Sponsors page.
While various topics are taught by UNSW academics both from science and business disciplines, an integral component of the Diploma is in giving students the opportunity to interact with practitioners from industry working at the coal face of innovation. Students take a hands-on approach in these small group environments, interacting with experts in their respective fields and being exposed to their experiences and in-depth insights.
Students can expect to hear from a range of guest speakers including:
Entrepreneurs who have established and/or are running their own start-ups: each with their own unique war stories to share
Venture capitalists, angel investors and investment bankers on how to raise equity finance
Patent attorneys and intellectual property (IP) lawyers on IP management
Business development managers of research institutes, incubators as well as science-based companies on commercialisation strategies
Government officials on regulation and government funding
